Anti-discrimination policies, Phare 2002
The pivotal aim of the 'Strengthening Anti-discrimination Policies' programme is promotion of an equal treatment of all persons, free from discrimination on grounds of race and ethnic origin.
It also comprises running a public campaign on the subject of eliminating discrimination, stereotypes and prejudices on grounds of race and ethnic origin, although other grounds of discrimination, inter alia age, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs, are also included into the developed scope of the awareness rising campaign.
The Project will support initiatives taken by non-governmental organisations and research institutions and strengthen their operational potential.
The Programme's objectives include:
- Promotion of initiatives aiming at increasing the level of social awareness, including awareness-rising campaigns, in the field of elimination and prevention of discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice on grounds of race and ethnic origin and on other grounds, including age, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs.
- Support educational and promotional activities led by non-governmental organisations or research institutions aiming at the dissemination of positive actions with a view to eliminate and prevent discrimination on the above grounds.
- Support the research initiatives aiming at strengthen the capacity of NGOs in terms of development of information campaigns in the field of elimination and prevention of discrimination, stereotypes and prejudice on grounds of race and ethnic origin and on other grounds, including age, sexual orientation, religion or beliefs.
