Lessons Learned from Assessing Governance: Towards Inclusive Democracies and Development in Asia
The “Experts’ Round-table and South-South Exchange Forum” was organized to highlight the experiences of a number of countries in Asia in conducting democratic governance assessments, many of which were (and continue to be) supported by UNDP’s Global Programme on Democratic Governance Assessments, as well as through its country level programmes.
In bringing together the different experiences at this event, the discussions not only showcased the processes that have led to the establishment of governance data and indicators. It has equally stressed the contributions that those can make in the policy cycle, in enhancing social accountability, and ultimately, impact development efforts.
