Workshop (10-11 June, Bonn): Communicating Research (, 4 May 2010)

Ultimately, communicating development research needs to lead to better-informed decisions that will result in change for the better. Providing easy access to research, encouraging awareness and debate, arming people with useful knowledge and thus a better understanding of development issues will hopefully enable them to make better decisions.

But what are the nuts and bolts of different communication approaches? Effective communication is about providing the right kind of information to the right audience and the right time. Perhaps not as easy as it sounds. Do we really know who we want to reach? Do we know how to reach them? And will they listen to or read the message?
